More details to this question:
I have a friend in prison who had been dealing with a medical condition regarding his spine since 2011. He was misdiagnosed (w/carpal tunnel) and had a surgery, which he didn't need, and then diagnosed with stenosis and had a surgery for that. It helped for a few months and he is now worse than when he started. The doc orders tests for him, but they are taking months to get done, or/and not being written properly by staff (ex., contrast needed, but not done), so they will take him and have a test done, but not what the doctor ordered and ends up being of no use. My friend is worried about permanent disability now - he is hardly able to use his hands and sometimes falls when he walks because of the nerve problems. His condition is deteriorating. He sent paperwork $2500 to a lawyer, but they just said they couldn't represent him and couldn't offer an opinion on whether of not the case had merit. So, how does he know who will review the case without a hefty fee up front? He is in NJ.

This case is complex because you need a doctor to review the medical records and render an opinion that the required standard of care was not met. This is difficult to achieve in a normal situation. It may be impossible in a prison situation. We have used the former head of the prison medical system to review the records. The initial cost is significant. This may be $5000 for the review and analysis. Please call to discuss. Ed Dimon
