More details to this question:
In need of advise regarding a vehicle and rights to a vehicle and whether this can go to civil court. My ex fiancé purchased a 2008 Honda (HONDA Finance is the lien holder of the vehicle as the full loan has not been paid off) and is a registered owner of the car, but I have been making monthly car payments on this vehicle since 2008 and have only 5K to pay it off. I received a call from him yesterday to bring the car to local police station so he can take it back from me (claims there was a warrant out for his arrest for an unpaid parking ticket on this car) I can prove payment of parking ticket. He did not agree to have me pay off the car this week and sign the title over to me (once it is released) On these grounds, that I have paid this car since 08, can I go to court? Would this stand in court?
If you can prove the payments that you made, you would be entitled to a proportionate ownership interest in the car. If you went to court, and could provide proof of the payments that you made, canceled checks, transfers, whatever you have, with the understanding that this was to be your vehicle, and not a gift to him of the payments.
