QUESTION

I have been suspended without pay

Asked on Jul 18th, 2016 on Discrimination - Texas
More details to this question:
I was written up for my appearance and for not meeting deadlines. I did meet my deadlines, for it was in the shared drive..but I am 52 year old female, and my male boss who I have seen only maybe 7 times (for he is new to the company) had me sent home for my appearance. I went to HR stating that this is how I look, and was in full clean uniform with my hair done and makeup on, but he said I was being insubordinate when I said I did not want to go home because I looked fine and I have a family to feed. I said that it was discrimination. Since then he has made comments that he is only going to hire cute girls and not another fat girl, like one that works with us. He also said that he would not hire another black person, because he did not want the Hotel to turn ghetto. HR still did not provide me with answers regarding my discrimination remark. Now that I feel uncomfortable, I asked if I was ugly or not pretty enough to work there....? Do I have a case? I am suspended now without pay.

You should file a discrimination claim with the Texas Workforce Commission as soon as possible. What county are you in?
