More details to this question:
Is it legal for teachers in Hudson County, NJ to take students cells phones and lock them up all day? There is no school policy for this action, only that students turn off their phones, which my child does. A student in a lower grade (not my child's class) was caught sending inappropriate pictures and now the school is taking the phones of the eight graders (this is middle school), not certain if it is being done school wide.
I did answer this question. The school can require that the cell phones be off and in the child's backpack or in their locker. The school will utilize the normal procedures for emergency calls. Ed Dimon
