We actually handle a number of these cases. Typical these are social media/internet defamation/tortious interference cases. To be clear they are NOT contingent fee cases but are handled on a retainer/hourly rate. The key is to be sure that the business wants to invest several thousand dollars up front to take the offender to task. If the answer is no, whether through lack of funds or not wanting to have the expenditure, then pursing such a lawsuit is simply not feasible. Many of our client however choose to weigh both the expense of letting false statement go unchallenged giving it credibility and the financial impact on the business, as part of the equation, which can often cost far far more.
