Can I charge him with slander

More details to this question:
I play gin on Yahoo.com and someone on there has stated to hundreds of people that I am a child molester. I am certainly nothing of the kind but has put me in a bad light. Can I sue him for f=defamation or slander? I have repeatedly said to him, show your facts, police reports, court documents and he has nothing. I am a Private Investigator, and licensed cause I am of good moral turpitude. This guy is way off base and accusing me of things I did not do. What are my legal choices.

Yes, you can. Collecting damages is whole oher story though.
