QUESTION

Can I post texts I’ve received online?

Asked on Feb 13th, 2020 on Libel, Slander and Defamation - Florida
More details to this question:
I live in a small town where my business partner is trying to steal our brand and call it their own. I am currently in litigation and It’s looking good for me, but I believe they are going to devalue the company, eliminate any assets and try to start their own using our product but creating a new brand. It’s complicated, but stay with me. I have so much evidence via text message from them that I want to post so the people in our town know the truth. I have text admissions, text threats, strange behavior via text etc. I just want people in our small town to know what happened and social media would be the way to do it. There are no pictures included, it’s just verbiage showing what a bad human being this person is. This person has lied to everyone around our town and while some have seen this persons true colors, a lot have no idea. Is it legal for me to do this? Of course I’m going to wait until our case is resolved, but would this be slander or defamation?

Since you are "involved in litigation" this is something you need to address with your existing lawyers handling the controversy.
