Can I sue for defamation?

More details to this question:
Someone is calling my current job, claiming that I stole $18K from them¿ keeps posting my picture with a message that I am a thief and not to be trusted on the company's website and Facebook page. Even when deleted, he posts under he other businesses' Facebook web pages. to the point that called into the company's owner office. He been posted that people should not trust this business (I am only an employee here) NOTHING of what he is saying is true. It is tuning into black mailing¿ pay me something and I will stop. He is still calling my work and asking for me personally.. what recourse do I have?
