My name is Max Hoagland. My father disappeared in July of 2014. Investigation Discovery did a story on us for the show “disappeared”. I spoke to a producer about the situation, but I was never told that they would be using anything I said. I never signed an agreement for them to even show my face or to talk about me at all. This is the reason I declined to be in the show, because I didn’t want my personal stuff out in the open. I was made to look like I was somehow involved in the disappearance. They told everyone I am taking methadone so now everyone in my town knows my entire story, including the fact that I am on a methadone program. I thought hipaa prevented stuff like this. I can never work in my town again because everyone recognizes my last name and won’t hire. I feel like I’m being judged whenever I speak to anyone in my town, even by old friends who won’t talk to me anymore because of this situation. This has really ruined my life. Do I have a case here?
You may have a case. I find it shocking that you never had to sign any kind of release at all. My firm has handled high profile matters very similar to this in the past with great success. If you are interested in speaking further, please contact us.
