Defamation of character / slander

I live in New Jersey. I have a situation where I've been with my current girlfriend for 4 years now. She has went through a horrible divorce that took over 2 1/2 years to complete. The divorce was final about 6 months ago. But her ex husband is an attorney and he is now appealing the divorce. Now here's the problem he has submitted to the courts in his appellant motion that I'm a harden criminal and drug dealer. When he brought this up in court the judge originally dismissed it and now he trying to bring it up again. He has also went to and ultimate low and showed there kids (6&9) my criminal background. And he has told them I'm a criminal, bad guy, and a drug dealer. He is infamous for cut and pasting what he wants people to see and what will benefit him. I was charged with a crime I didn't commit or have any involvement in about 9 years ago. I have never taken the proper courses to have it expunged due to finances. May case was nolle prosee. More to the story please help me.
