defamation of character slander/ libel

More details to this question:
an old supervisor emailed slanderous things about me and I have a tape of him saying embarrassing humiliating things about me. The emails circulated and he emailed someone on his day off. I'm about to snap. Someone, anyone please give me advice. Thank you
