I wrote a negative review on Yelp. It is a true accounting of what happened and I had even reported them to the Bureau that regulates them. I did not lie about anything and have all the proof and documentation for what happened and today I was served for defamation.
Hi Dorothy,
If what you posted was either opinion, a true factual accounting of what happened or a combinaition of the two than it is legally protected speech. Given the fact that you have been sued you are going to need to respond to the lawsuit. Your case may be appropriate for a special motion to strike under California's anti-slapp statute that is designed to discourage frivolous lawsuits seeking to attack individuals from exercising their free speech rights.
Let me know if you would like to dicuss this.
Thanks,
Jon
