QUESTION

Defamatory Statement or Subjective Statement

Asked on Oct 19th, 2017 on Libel, Slander and Defamation - North Carolina
More details to this question:
Individuals from another company present at at a meeting. These individuals reported to their CEO and Board of Directors a statement which I did not make. That board wrote a letter to our board and CEO naming me and including the untrue statement. This is causing scrutiny from our board and potentially will hamper my career and upward mobility within our company not to mention my reputation. I have not seen the letter, but two of our board members and our CEO have confirmed my name was in the letter and also spoken out loud among both boards.

You should consult with an attorney who is experienced in defamation claims.  However, if you have not incurred an immediate loss (such as firing), then it may be hard to move forward with such a case.
