I resigned as a city recreation manager two months ago. The paper just published an article where the city manager accused me my saying I knowingly accepted false documents which is false and cannot be proven. He is trying to ruin my reputation and ability to find work. I have a stellar reputation and live in the city I worked in.
You may very well have a case for defamation given the facts that you described. The city manager apparently made a factual statement (statements of opinion are protected) and the statement is clearly defamatory. What city was this?
Thanks,
Jon
