QUESTION

False accusation of theft

Asked on Aug 08th, 2018 on Libel, Slander and Defamation - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I was working at a car dealership as a service valet. This past month, a car came through the service drive with money in it. My co-worker wrote up his car and parked it in the lot. I was not at the dealership at this time. The car came back from service and apparently there was an envelope with $600 missing from the ash tray. I still wasn't at the dealership at the time but the customer freaked out and the GM of the dealership got involved. He searched my co worker and his car. Long story short, when I arrived, we went to lunch. My co worker handed me keys to his car and asked me to start it while he had a cigarette. I started it then went to my car and left. The money was later found by where his car was. The GM checked the cameras and saw us standing by the car and my co worker handing me something (the keys) and so he called the police and we both got questioned. We got fired the next day. I am in alot of debt bc I could not pay bills after that. I never got a letter of termination

Update Your Profile
You should work with the dealership and explain what happened. Be clear that you were not involved in the theft. This is your best opportunity. The dealership can terminate your employment at any time and for no reason. Ed Dimon, Esq.
