QUESTION

Would I have a slander suit

Asked on Sep 09th, 2016 on Libel, Slander and Defamation - New York
More details to this question:
I have been a leader on boyscouts for 12 years. Another leader reported that I was verbally abusive to children. Without even talking to me or other witnesses I was removed and band. The other leaders and children all state that there was no abuse. When you are banned there is a portrayal of wrong doing to the community. In addition the humiliation to my 3 sons. The dicision is based on the decision of the head of the charter. A priest in the Catholic Church who is only taking his friends word dispite no proof or anything on else to back it up. He never questioed any one or asked anyone else if was true. There has never been any previous offenses.

No because there is a privilege for communications among people who need to know information, called a qualified privilege.  In other words, leaders have a right to express to each other facts about other leaders to higher ups, whether it is true.
