QUESTION

Auto dealership did not disclose vehicle damage

Asked on Nov 06th, 2018 on Consumer Fraud - Florida
More details to this question:
I bought a used 2014 vehicle from a local dealership in May this year. Minor issues were acceptable (one key, back-up camera inop). Took a longer trip, about a 30-45 minute drive. Chime started sounding while driving. Took vehicle to manufacturer dealer and asked for diagnostics to be done. Technicians found parts that didn’t belong. I bought a Carfax on vehicle. Report showed severe damage with multiple air bags deployed. Attempted to resolve issue with the seller to no avail.

Unless you asked or had the vehicle inspected, they are not required to tell you about damage to the car. The can't defraud or lie about it but they aren't required to do your job as a consumer whcih is to make sure its a good deal. The sort of exception to this is CPO vehicles, where there may be an implied warranty based on the certification representations. Other than that you should have gottena carfax BEFORE you decided to buy the vehicle, not after you did it.
