QUESTION

Can a warrant be issused for not paying a bill

Asked on Jul 10th, 2014 on Consumer Fraud - Florida
More details to this question:
I rented a TV from a rent to own place and Made one payment then the TV was stole from me but I don't have a police report. So the company turned the account over to an agency who contacted me and told me that if I didn't pay the amount due that they would have the District Attorney for my county issue a warrant for my arrest. I am suspicious of this also because I asked for a letter and looked up the company online and can not find them listed anywhere. I am afraid this may be a scam.

Yes. And they not going to by the 'ol " someone stole the expensive TV I rented after one payment and I didnt call the police" story either. In Florida failure to return rental property on demand pay the full value of the purchase price allows them fill out an affidavit and send directly to State Attorney for prosecution.
