I'm currently getting text messages from Dean VanOwen concerning a secret shopper (reviewer) assignment I received 18july2019 in the mail. The assignment states I should deposit a $2,930 cashiers check at my bank, than immediately purchase a new cashiers check for $50 from my back, take a picture of that check and forward the picture in a text message to Dean VanOwen. Than I'm instructed to purchase $2400 of Walmart Cash Cards and again take pictures of the walmart cash cards and attach the pictures of the cash cards to a text message to Dean VanOwen. The instructions also state I will be given an address to mail both the cashiers check and the walmart cash cards after I've completed those tasks. Further, If I complete the tasks within 24 hours I will earn a $100 bonus.
You have been scammed. You are never going to recover the money. You will owe your bank. There is nothing you can do, other than file a criminal complaint. Dean VanOwen does not exist.
