QUESTION

debt

Asked on Apr 09th, 2014 on Consumer Fraud - Florida
More details to this question:
My father died in November of 2011. He made me an authorized user on his sears card. He told me I could use it even after he died as long as I make the payments. I did use it..alot. i made payments for a year and 1/2 until I lost my job. The debt has went from the bank where it originated to an attorney office. I am fully willing to pay the debt..that is what I was doing until I lost my job anyways...If the attorneys office settles an agreement with me for the amount I will pay, is this separate matter from criminal prosecution? I am terrified that using the card as an authorized user was possibly criminal! I had no idea!!! What do I do?

You will probably need to hire a lawyer to help advise you what to do ASAP. There is a very good chance that your explanation simply wont be believed and you could be facing some criminal issues if this is not recolved properly.
