My husband was targeted as a Chiropractor, was manipulated to pay $25,000.00 for a day trading seminar which turned my husband into a gambling addict. He tells his students he has a system that if they follow would make them millions of dollars. We lost our business, our home, our retirement, all our savings, and inheritance. This business targets Chiropractors and manipulates them to believe they can run their business and trade a couple of hours a day and make millions of dollars. His system is nothing you can't get read in a book, or get for free. There is no "system". Day trading is a gambling addiction. He preys on the desperate, and disillusioned. Can I sue this man, or his business for consumer fraud?
Its possible. Unfortunately such a case would be very expensive to litigate. The fact that your husband has a gambling problem or the informaiton can be read in a book, is not going to be of consequence as you will need to show that its an outright scam, such that the representations are utterly false or that they specifically target vulnerable individuals with gambling problems. By example, claims that 5 people that took the course made millions of dollars a year, when none did or getting a marketing list from a gamblers anonymous site. If you are willing make the finaincial investment in the litigation you can retain any lawyer that you like to initiate the lawsuit.
