QUESTION

Does Reg E and EFTA protect the consumer?

Asked on Jun 20th, 2013 on Consumer Fraud - New Jersey
More details to this question:
My bank acct was deleted using my ATM card and pin. I reported it within 2 days. Isn't time the ONLY factor in consumer liability under Reg E and the EFTA? My bank says my complaint is "in error "because it follows my pattern of use (not) and I used the ATM before and after the fraudulent transactions. I thought I only had to report it within a certain amount of time to be held liable and the most I am liable for is $500.00 whether they catch who did it or not. The person did it at places where there are apparently no video surveillance. I want my money back and the bank won't give it to me even though I reported it within 2 days.
