QUESTION

How do I get refunded for auto-debit for unused internet service?

Asked on Nov 07th, 2016 on Consumer Fraud - Florida
More details to this question:
My family and I moved from Georgia to Florida in February 2016. When in Georgia we had satellite internet service. When we moved we forgot to cancel the service and didn't notice that we were still being billed $160.78 per month. I called and cancelled the service on October 28, 2016 when I realized we were still being billed. I was told by the technician I spoke with that he could see we had disconnected the modem back in February and had not used the service. He said that we could be refunded up to 6 months and he put in the request and said it would take 7-10 business days. I called on November 7, 2016 and was told it was declined by their billing department because they don't give refunds for unused service. Is there any way that I will be able to get back my $1000+ that I paid them when I had their equipment disconnected and wasn't using their services?

Not typically as the failure in this part was on you not the provider. You will have to consult with a Ga lawyer to see if there is some legal basis otherwise, but thats your starting point.
