More details to this question:
I own a 2006 Honda Civic, purchased approx. 2009 from a Honda dealer on A1A in St. Augustine Fl. The paint faded severely which I found was a recall for a bad clear coat after it expired. Now my car has a cracked engine block as per my mechanic after finding a water leak and having it towed to hill automotive in Orange ok fl on 8/6/16. This problem was also a recall but not a safety hazard so Honda said they don't have to notify the owner(s). The actual warranty was extended 10 years as per Honda it expired March 14, 2016. The extended warranty said engine replacement free no matter what the mileage. I also recieved a recall for the takata air bags, that says don't let anyone sit in the front passenger seat, ridiculous that dealers can get away with this nonsense. They know the issues but don't advise vehicle owners. I was told if I took my car to them for service( and let them price gouge me) instead of my own mechanic which I use regularly I would of been advised my

You can't have your cake and eat it too. You buy a usedcar and choose to have it serviced by third parties but expect the customer service and attention of an actual customer of the manufacturer. If you do that, YOU not the dealer will have to follow up with non-safety recalls and warranty extensions on your own. Hopefully the money you saved avoidin the price gouging of the dealer (which I dont disagree with) was enough to pay for the repairs.
