I paid someone to build a website for me. At the time of the contract the total amount was $400 for a 5 page website, logo, brochure, and blog. She later increased the price of her services ($250) and added on hosting for one year without my knowledge or consent, bringing the project total to $650. She claimed that she sent me an email with the updated price and since I never opposed it she assumed I was okay with it. I refused to pay the extra $250, since I never agreed to a price increase or hosting (which I already had). She had been pushing the final date back for months and when I finally confronted her she advised that I was on her 'unpaid client' list and she was not actively working on my website. Do I have any recourse for either getting my money back or forcing her to finish the website? Thank you. I am located in New Jersey but she is located in Georgia.
The difficulty is the defendant being in Georgia. You would have to sue the person in Georgia. The cost is too great. You could reach out to the Better Business Bureau in Georgia and file a complaint.
