The following is a write up that describe the issue at hand: "" Tonight, while shopping at a local Ollies I was approached by the manager and told: " you must leave now that the store is closed". This uneventful and disgusting situation took place around 9:05pm . Based in my understand, basic common sense, basic sense of justice, and widespread jurisprudence on the matter, individuals already in store should have a reasonable amount of time to finish his/her business in store and clearly 5 minutes is not a reasonable amount of time for that matter. This is not only horrible customer service, but it is also an unlawful and degrading act that must be dealt with. It seems that the best forum to address such issue are the small claims court. "" One would imagine that such situation is not acceptable.
You might not like the service or their policy, but there is no law that gives you the right to remain in a store to finish your shopping when they have closed. If you don't leave when asked, and they can give you however much time they want, then you are legally trespassing and they can call the police. You don't have any more time than they are willing to give you and you have no right to claim the time they gave you was not reasonable. Small claims court can only give you money if the store somehow damaged or injured you and that would be difficult to prove and even if they did, the burden of proof is on you to show how much the degrading treatment was worth in terms of money. Better solution is not to shop there, I think, but that's your choice.
