QUESTION

Can I break the contract for a used car?

Asked on Jan 19th, 2015 on Consumer Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I brought a used car 12/10 and as of 1/19 dealership hasn't delivered on tags. They told me drive on expired tags they will handle the fees. I almost was arrested and towed. They kept saying they are working on it , its a title issue. Do I have any legal recourse to get my deposit and payment for this car back? I cant use the vehicle without valid plates and the dealership is dragging their feet on this.

Update Your Profile
You will not be able to remove yourself from the liabilities of the purchase contract based upon the lfailure to provide license plates in a timely fashion. You would be entitled to damages if you received a traffic violation based upon the failure to have proper license plates. The dealer would have to pay for your fines and court costs.I would make my demands to the dealer in writing so that you have a complete record of what took place.
