QUESTION

Do I have a case for false advertisement?

Asked on Feb 20th, 2017 on Consumer Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I purchased a Chamberlain garage door opener, that was advertised to work with my homelink system in my car for the purpose of operating the garage door opener. It did not work and after contacting them they said I would need an extra device to make it work along with blaming the auto maker for the problem. I'd be satisfied if they would send me this device at their expense. I would even pay the shipping, but they refused. Again my vehicle is in their compatibility list for this door opener.

Not likely as there are often changes and programming issues with various manufactuers. While I am sure you would be happy with the extra device at the door opener companies expense, they may oppose this as much a you might equally be happy with carmanufactuer making thier car compliant at thier expense. You may have a Mag-Moss warranty issue or a false advertisement claim to pursue but this will all revolve around the terms and conditions of the sale and warranty documents, ut such cases are not inexpensive and you may have to pay legal fees up front and seek reimbursment later. You may just need to return the item for a refund if possible or simply by the additional component.
