QUESTION

I need help: somebody has put lien on my car

Asked on Oct 16th, 2017 on Consumer Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I bought a used car. My name is noticed on a second page of a vehicle title under “third reassignment dealer only” section as the last purchaser. I made an agreement with a transportation company (located in Bayonne, NJ, let’s call it A) to transport this car from a warehouse in Miami to Jacksonville. I left this car and the original title in that warehouse in Miami. The A company hired then a contractor (another company, let’s call it B) to tow this car from Miami to Jacksonville. When the B company delivered this car in Jacksonville, there were some issues with paperwork and the driver of the B company couldn’t be able to leave this car in the ship dock/terminal. He towed this car back to Miami. The B has put a lien on this car to recover his delivery fees. This car will be sold on 10.24.2017. Did the B company have the right to put a lien on my car? Can this car be sold on an auction without a court decision? Contact me, please.

Quite possibly there is a contractual or statutory "mechanics" lien if you did not pay the transportation bill. You need to pay the transportation nill, get the car and then fight about contract issues or violations afterwards.
