More details to this question:
On July 27,2020 I had Twin D Automotive do work on my car. I had them replace the rack and pinion, inner and outer tie rods that particular day. The repair bill was $515.70 in labor. I registered the vehicle on August 23,2020 and was able to drive it and found several major issues with the work that had n been done. I went to Twin D to tell them I couldn't turn my wheels all the way to the left, they insisted that my alignment, which had been performed after the rack and pinion job by Monro Muffler, was done wrong and that's the answer to my problem. Monro put it on the machine again, and everything was correct, because I had told Monro about the rack ad pinion work done, they put my car on the lift and discovered that my steering column wasn't even connected. The bolt that was supposed to hold it together was missing and other parts were never put back on after Twin D replaced my rack and pinion.
Well, from this point it looks like you solve the main problem, which is good. Now, if the Twin D performed a bad job you could sue for compensation. If you have a written contract with an express clause you could recover attorney's fee. That said, it is worth considering that litigation can be costly and time consuming. You could present your claims on Small Claims court but you need enough evidence. In this case you would have to pay $25 to start your case. If you hire an attorney, however, consider that if the other party has an attorney too your case will be sent to Civil Court and you may have to pay a $210 Index No. I know it is frustrating to have a bad job done. However, sometimes it is morw expensive to recover. Nevertheless, lawsuit or not you can always make a complaint with the New York Department of Consumer Affairs.
