More details to this question:
Both my parents died in 2003. What is the statute of limitations for collection of any unpaid bills? I have no current knowledge of unpaid bills but I am still holding their medical records and insurance information. Is this necessary?

you should not have any issues with your mother's medical bills from 2003. The statute of limitations for contract law is six years. This is 12 years later. Unless you have had  litigation with the hospital or the service providers, the I am has passed for the service providers to sue you for the monies. Ed Dimon
