QUESTION

Suing airlines for damage

Asked on Aug 04th, 2014 on Consumer Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
Airlines failed to check proper documents(visitor visa requirements for Costa Rica) and allowed us to travel from US(Newark) to Costa Rica. But We were deported from Costa Rica, Costa Rica authority said it was airlines fault. We were mentally suffered and wasted time, money. We were also denied boarding in Houston airport(Houston to Newark) despite if having boarding pass issued by the same airlines in Costa Rica. We had to additionally wait 8 hours midnight in Houston to take another flight in the morning. No facilities(hotel, food etc) were provided in Costa Rica or Houston for the additional delay. We are looking for a damage amount.

it is most difficult and expensive to sue the airlines. you sign a contract when you purchase the ticket which limits your rights. i would try negotiating with the airline for 'free' flights or an upgrade. ed dimon, esq.
