QUESTION

Altered lease renewal agreement post signature

Asked on Jul 26th, 2016 on Contracts - New York
More details to this question:
I signed my lease renewal and when the management company received it. They altered the security area and modified it from $0 to $200. They also altered another portion of the lease which said the new security total was $6900. They returned the altered document with their signature without mentioning the change. I then received a bill for the additional security deposit.

The landlord had no right to alter the agreement without your consent.  It would obviously be helpful if you retained a copy of the original version of the agreement.
