A church friend of my wife introduced us to an investment opportunity. She said she had participated and received a payout from it. the investment banker is a 15 year friend of hers. I gave her the $5000 initial investment plus a $2000 tax liability. We were assured of a payout in November/ 2019. All we have received is lies after lies. Now we are asking for the $7000 back and she's not responding to emails, texts or phone calls. I have receipts, emails an texts from her and the "banker.".

To me it sounds like you need the police, not a lawyer, at least not in the first instance.
