More details to this question:
She has promised time and time again to either give me my computer back or pay me. Time and time again she has made excuses and stalled. Now she refuses, saying that in KY if you have something in your possession for over a year it is legally yours.

She is wrong on KY law. That old "possession is 9/10 of the law is an old wives tale."
But that doesn't return it. My advice is sue her in small claims court for the value of the stuff.
