Breach of verbal contract

More details to this question:
My boyfriend of 8 yrs was behind on his property taxes and our home was to be auctioned off. He agreed to put the home in my name if my dad paid them but reneged after the taxes were paid and the auction had been called off. What can I do?

YOu can do nothing. Your father would have to sue your BF, and now soon to be EX, for breach of contract over thge loan. Unless it was a huge amount, it may not be worth the effort and expense. That aside you now know what a liar and dirt bag you were dating for 8 years. Time to rethink that relationship if its not already over.

You or your dad can sue him for breach of contract, but it will be difficult because contracts involving the sale of real proeprty are generally required to be in writing.  However, your dad would have a good chance to at least get the money back, becasue if there is no valid contract to put hte hom ein your name, then your dad loaned the money to your bf (it's unlikely that a judge/jury will believe that it was a gift),and it needs to be repaid.
