QUESTION

BREAKING A LEASE EMERGENCY!!!

Asked on Apr 23rd, 2013 on Contracts - Florida
More details to this question:
Ive been living in this condominium for about 6 years now and 2 years ago i started having issues with the landlord about my water meters. Theres something wrong with the water meters because i have been getting crazy high bill of water since two years ago. I went to the leasing office and they said it was nothing going, they checked for leaks and they say everythings ok but i keep getting 300$ bills of water. I spoke to my neighbords and they were paying 10 to 15$ of water when i was getting bills for 365$ per threee months. The landlord never fixed this problem and every month was a different excuse. I renewed my lease with them few months ago and the landlord said he was going to fix the problem which he has not done yet and there not proof of them fixing the meters. I want to break my lease and if i can sue them for all the money i have lost Whats the best thing i can do for the landlord to give me back my deposit money?

Tough call as it may seem inconsistent that you knowingly re-signed a lease. It will all depend on whether there is a meter problem or a water usage problem. If no leaks and no meter defect, you may have hard time breaking lease. Should have water company check why and check meter. It may be something as simple as a running toilet. I would make sure you can show problem and landlord fult before you try to break lease. You should have demanded repair completed or move out prior to reneweing.
