QUESTION

Breaking an apartment lease. must I pay?

Asked on Feb 06th, 2013 on Breach of Contract - Texas
More details to this question:
the entire Austin location for my job is being closed. We're all being laid off at the end of March. I've given my 30 day notification to vacate my apt. Apt Management want me to pay $1750. I can't pay rent much less this other amount because I'm being laid off through no fault of my own.

Unless your lease says otherwise, it is generally no defense to a breach of contract that you have been laid off and can no longer pay the rent.
