can a car dealership hold me to a purchase when I only signed to be pre-qualified and no down payment was given

More details to this question:
A car dealership is telling me a car loan was funded (not by me) and is trying to hold me to the purchase. I signed for them to pre-qualify me and then I have received information that they issued a loan in my name, they put it on my insurance policy (which I have them take it off) during the few days they were waiting for the down payment (which was never made) which I notified them I was no longer interested in the vehicle.
You have a three day right of recission if you signed their contract, which I imagine you must have to get a loan. As long as you reject the agreement within that time period, you should be fine. Feel free to contact us if you need further assistance. 203.870.6700.
