QUESTION

Can a lawyer demand full payment after a payment plan has already started?

Asked on Dec 10th, 2019 on Contracts - Delaware
More details to this question:
I agreed to a monthly payment plan with my lawyer at the start of July 2019 for a period of 10months which will take it to April 2020. The payments automatically come out of my bank account every month since then, and I receive a receipt from the lawyers office when it does. The last payment taken out was November 2019. Now the lawyer is demanding for me to pay out my balance before my payment plan is over. Can they do that?

Anyone can "demand" anything, but that doesn't mean that you have to comply with the demand.  If you have a settlement agreement with which you have complied, you are not obligated to do anything beyond what the agreement requires.
