More details to this question:
I was 16 when my 18 year old friend bought me a plane ticket to visit him. The cost was $1,350. I agreed over instant messages and emails to pay him back. I live in the USA and he lives in Australia. After paying back a lot of it and housing him while he studied in the USA, the issue faded away. After a fight we had, it resurfaced full strength. Am I legally obliged to pay him back?

As a practical matter the costs of suing you over such a modest sum makes the liklihood of a lawsuit very small.
