QUESTION

Can I get out of a travel work contract?

Asked on Jan 10th, 2017 on Contracts - New York
More details to this question:
I work as a traveling surgical technologist. I just started a new 13 week contract at a facility in a town that I do not like. I just want out of the contract and I don't want to travel anymore. My company states I could be fined for not fulfilling my contract. I still have to work 490 hours, and the company states it is $20 for every non worked hour I will be fined plus any fines from the facility. I want to know if I can just get out of it.

"Fine" is really a term of criminal law, like a ticket.  The right to make a claim against you or not will be based on the terms of the contract, which I have not seen, so no one could know what you might need to pay.
