QUESTION

Can I still get sued by my last employer?

Asked on Nov 19th, 2019 on Contracts - Florida
More details to this question:
Okay so I recently left a company in the beauty industry. I am an licensed esthetician. I violated the term of the 3-year contract by leaving. Instead of taking it to court I settled with the company for paying back the trainings that I took. I was told over the phone that I could not do the service for 2 years (eyelash extensions). It did say in the contract that they would seek further damages (license suspension) if I continued the service. But when I signed my settlement agreement it does NOT state at all that I can’t continue my practice in this field. Only that I have to repay for my trainings. My question(s) are can I still get sued past signing a settlement? Can I still open my own self-employed business without being further sued?

You tell us - YOU negotiated the settlement and signed the agreement. YOU are supposed to know what you agreed to. Otherwise, you will need to retain a lawyer to review the agreement and go from there or simply avoid the issue until pass thedeadline to avoid the expense of a controversy.
