QUESTION

Can someone not named on contract be forced to give up possession in storage unit

Asked on Apr 24th, 2014 on Contracts - Florida
More details to this question:
My son whose name is on the lease at a storage unit found out that the unit was auctioned off yesterday 04/23/2014, without any knowledge that it was being put up for auction, no legal notices or certified mail, according to state law. My name is not on the contract, but majority of the items were in the storage unit, can my stuff even though my name is not on the contract, still be taken. Also what does " other disposition in not fewer than three conspicuous places in the neighborhood where the self-service storage facility or self-contained storage unit is located." mean. We informed them of our situation, including temporary financial problems and house damage, and they said don't worry about it. Thank You and will like to see if an attorney can represent us

Yes. Its his storage unit not yours. Unless there is some title or registration for items that are yours, they probably wontbe so foolish as to let people come in claim things and remove them just on someones word. If it was auctioned off you will probably spend more money out of pocket trying to address the issue than worth...unless yo had a lot of very valuable stuff.
