QUESTION

Can vendors hold onlto deposits for a cancelled wedding?

Asked on May 27th, 2016 on Contracts - California
More details to this question:
My Fiance and I cancelled our wedding due to a change in venue location. We signed several "non-refundable" deposit contracts, however we gave 6+ months notice and no actual services were performed by any of the vendors. One vendor's contract does not state that the deposit is non-refundable. Can we get the deposits back?

It will depend on the contracts and the facts and circumstances.  To get your deposit back, send a demand letter and then sue in small claims court.
