QUESTION

Can/Should I Sue my Own Father?

Asked on Feb 22nd, 2018 on Breach of Contract - Florida
More details to this question:
I recently purchased a new car under my name for my father. He couldn't place it under his because he's currently in a bankruptcy status of some sort. He wanted to use the car for family purposes which I was happy to hear so I agreed under the condition he makes payments as he's using the car. The first payment is due in less than a week and he hasn't responded to anything. I reached out to my siblings and he placed them in similar situations where he said he would make payments for them but failed to do so. I hate the thought of suing my own father but even when my parents divorced after 20+ years, he wouldn't pay the mortgage on my mother's house till he was court ordered. We thought he had gotten better but he had an addiction to gambling which may be a reason behind this (although we don't see a direct connection). Could we sue him to have him make good on these verbal agreements? I have texts saying he'll make the payments and he makes more than six figures a year.

You are wasting your time. If is making six figures a year, why did he need YOu to buy a car, HE could have done so on his own if ANY of that were true, let alone BANKRUPTCY being a huge clue he is broke. The person to blame for your debacle is YOU not your deadbeat father. There could not possibly be more warnings that you were being foolish. Take the car back, with a Sheriff if need be, its yours if its solely in your name.....then take the car and sell it or trade it in to miminize your losses.
