More details to this question:
I found two savings passbook along with desposit slips. I wrote the bank in question (NY) and they stated the money went to the state. After checking with the state twice for both passbooks they stated they dod not have the money it lies with the bank. These account have never been cashed in and I did not pay any interest or penalities on these accounts. After several notice to the bank they are refusing to make payment. I wrote to all the agencies: FDIC, Consumer advocates, banking and Finance BBB and they all stated it was between the bank and myself. Is there any way I can get the banks to pay me my money?

You need to sue the bank in court.  Depending on the amount, it could be small claims.
