Contractor gone for 4 months

More details to this question:
We hired a contractor to replace the western cedar siding on our house March 10,2018 we gave him a deposit of $5750.00.There was an issue with securing the wood.We understood that.We had no communication for 5 weeks.The would was delivered June 11,2018.He was supposed to come cover and secure the wood.He never came.3 weeks later my husband filed a Civil suit.He did not respond till he was served and said he had been in the hospital again.I ask how we should continue.No response.The contract says work will begin on April 16,2018 or before.Do we withdraw the complaint?

Do not withdraw the complaint and continue the lawsuit. At the same time, find another contractor to come in a finish the project. Whatever the 2nd contractor charges you to finish the job, over and above what you would have paid the 1st contractor,  is the amount of your damages.
