QUESTION

Dissolved Business but has contract still in effect - are they able to still conduct services?

Asked on Jun 11th, 2020 on Breach of Contract - Florida
More details to this question:
I recently signed a contract with a DJ company for my upcoming wedding. Wedding to be held on Nov 8th and contract was signed and paid in full on Jan 4th 2020. On May 25th the DJ posted on facebook "With a sad heart we have to announce due to financial constraints and the current economic conditions Keep up prod has officially closed and is no longer able to operate. We apologize for any impact this may have on your wedding or event" The DJ at this time took down all of his websites, social media accounts, disconnected his phone service, auto response from email, and took down the link to access all signed contracts between parties. Further research states his business license is inactive as of 6/1/2020 and he has filed a "addendum to dissolve". Most wedding venues require all vendors who will conduct work on the property to be licenses and insured. His current insurance expired on 3/15/2020 and he has not renewed it. Do we have any leg to stand on to get a refund?

Sure - you and everyone else has a leg to stand on - problem is that you paid in full which was foolish and the CV-19 issue killed the company. Its unlikely you will ever see that money again - but you can try.
