More details to this question:
I am a Drywall contractor I did a job for a roofing company, water damage repair etc. I had a bad vibe the entire time due to his failed leadership 2 prior times on the same job. The more conversation I had with him the more uneasy I felt, I requested payment early which he agreed and never followed thru 3 seperate times so I filled a lein on the job

Its possible. The key is defamatory, nor derogatory, statements made under false pretense support the malicious intent. This is especially true with fake screen names or instigating troll storms as a means of retaliation for other issues. You may want to retain a lawyer to send a cease and desist/retraction letter to the offender.
